Bennett’s Lemon Cola – “A Product of Los Angeles”

Bennett’s Lemon Cola – since 1963.
355 ml. bottle.

This is one of those many occasions where you settle for inferior quality for the sake of supporting the little guy, and the DIY ethic.
Like when you go to see your friend’s band play a show.

Very uneventful soda with real lemon flavor (a plus) but sweetened with corn syrup (a minus).
The result is distinctly underwhelming, but with such promising concept and packaging…!
The side of the label reads: “Do you need caffeine? We didn’t think so!”
So you left with the impression that there is this old, anti-drug, Christian activist soda maker working out of the
back of his ice cream shop in LA – changing the habits of youth one soda bottle at a time, with a vat of high fructose corn syrup at one side, and a bible at the other.

It is a nice label, though:
